Description of 5.4mm gopro lens ir cut filter                                                  

(1) Infrared (IR) cut filters are used with color CCD or CMOS imagers to produce accurate color images. An IR cut-off filter blocks the transmission of the infrared while passing the visible. This can be done with two optical techniques: absorption or reflection. Absorptive filters are made with special optical glass that absorbs near infrared radiation.

(2) Infrared cut filters are designed to block or reflect infrared wavelengths but pass visible light. Mid-infrared filters are often used as heat-absorbing filters in devices with bright incandescent light bulbs (such as slide and overhead projectors) to prevent unwanted heating due to infrared radiation. There are also filters which are used in solid state video cameras to block IR due to the high sensitivity of many camera sensors to unwanted near-infrared light.

Application:

Infrared filter is a kind of filter that allows the specific infrared light through the optical filter but cutoff or reflect visible light at the same time. It mainly used for camera photography, infrared photography. Only a certain range of high-frequency light wave will be allowed to through.

This glass lens filter(PL Filter) can eliminate the stray light and let the surveillance camera shooting out of the image and picture clarity higher. Besides, it can clearly monitor to see on the road driving vehicle license, vehicle type, color, etc., even in the night.

Then, it can weaken the body whole reflective, effectively inhibit the head-on vehicle light (vehicle lights), make driving and vehicle license plate is clearly captured, the picture is more true and complete.

Finally, IR coating and AR coating of the glass filter can effectively stop the infrared light and let the  visible light pass.
